In the process of writing 'Whitefeather lights the air: World, Universe and a Dream'

I am pursuing the pageant of Miss Universe Canada 2011 and the winner of this pageant is selected for the internationally recognized Miss Universe pageant. In this endeavor I am creating a film to inspire appreciation of cultural diversity and I am also in the midst of writing a book called 'The World, Universe and a Dream'.

A Reflection
====================================================================================

Since being introduced to pageantry I have learned a greater sense of what it means to be a part of this opportunity. It brings motivated and passionate young women together to share in an experience that offers inspiration for working hard at being your best self while being able to positively influence the world around you. It is also an opportunity that can open doors.

Pageantry is an event that brings young aspiring, motivated women together to accomplish common goals of being a part of something that allows you to give to communities, build on dreams and represent oneself as a business woman, with ethics, talents and a caring personality. What people may not realize, is that pageantry gives these women an opportunity to gain valuable experience that contributes to a passionate and purposeful outlook on life.

Through just being a part of the pageant, the contestants feel inspired to better themselves and dream big, with an increased excitability and motivation to achieve success.

Like an athlete trains for a worldly event, pageant contestants train to be the best they can be, learning how to speak eloquently and represent themselves and the organization with a strong presence as a diplomatic representative. Taking on the experience to the fullest of her ability, a motivated pageant contestant makes every effort to take care of themselves, including health and fitness, personal beauty and feeling good both inside and radiating outwards; pageant contestants train in every manner that makes a person the best they can be. All of the training, efforts and achievements of a strong delegate helps prepare themself to be a rolemodel of inspiration to young girls and pageant followers who can share in the journey of excitement for the contestants and the lucky girl who is crowned.

This girls life is changed forever, and most definitely in the year to come; for she takes on the responsibilities of traveling to events, speaking at functions, and inspiring within schools around the country. Miss Universe Canada also gets to attend the worldly, universal pageant of Miss Universe with the hope of being able to take on the responsibilities of traveling the world and working with charities and inspirational opportunities around the globe.

My DREAM
========
To share some background of how I got to where I am today:

Before my filmmaking and creative aspirations I was attending university for psychology in which I also did minors in religion culture and English. This was a time of being challenged to grow as an individual while being inspired to question who I was and what the world was all about.

It was during this time of my life that one day I vividly remember sitting down and writing thoughts about what I could do that would really allow me to use my strengths and talents. Through the various ideas I wrote down, the main point I discovered was that I wanted to be something that would allow me to share what I was coming to understand about the world and our shared journey as well as what I have continued to learn about my own personal journey of growth and challenges in becoming who I want to be.
--------------------------

In 2007 I got inspired to start filmmaking because I had a vision of putting film to music. I became very passionate about this endeavor from realizing how powerful it could be to share a message through film. As soon as I had this experience, I went to my old high school to start using their computers and facilities because I recognized it as a valuable resource that would allow me to start being creative and exploring my newfound passion.

I began by making posters of ideas which allowed me to explore my stories, and it was here that I first used a video camera and made a video. Then I took myself a little more into the world, by attending events in Toronto, Ontario while traveling to festivals and filming my experiences. From the footage I made a series of independent creative films that share experiential stories from what I learned from each experience.

Today I am thrilled to be pursuing the pageant of Miss Universe/Canada while working with a vision of using this platform to its full potential. Representing Miss Universe will truly provide an ability to reach and inspire the learning’s that I have discovered about the 'World, Universe and what it means to have a Dream.’********************************************************************************88

To share a bit more about who I am

For the past few years I have used inspiration and knowledge from my education in Psychology and Cultural studies, as well as my creative filmmaking talents to capture community and worldly events. Since the beginning of these interests it has been my vision to make films that inspire celebration of culture and heritage. It is my passion to inspire appreciation for our multicultural world.

After filming my life travels for a few years, in 2009, I decided to follow one of my ideas -and that was to embrace an opportunity that would allow me to reach the world. I wanted to make a film about traveling across our multicultural nation – while exploring stories that I would find as Vancouver welcomed the world in 2010. I found many stories and inspired ideas that will be with me for a lifetime career of filmmaking and creative pursuits.

Vision, Purpose and Passion: preparing for our ability to reach the world

I have filmed my life travels over the past 3 years, starting in 2007.
In 2008 I explored and filmed stories of cultural heritage while in Athens Greece.
In 2009 I moved to Vancouver, where I filmed the atmosphere of a city that prepared itself to welcome the world. This included filming cultural Olympiad events, torch ceremonies and stories of inspiration and cultural diversity. One of my favourite interviews was with someone who discussed the passion of the human spirit. While being here I encountered the opportunity of Miss Vancouver and Miss BC 2009, and following these experiences I was introduced to the Miss Universe Canada pageant.

As I prepare for the pageant

I am dedicating my efforts to creating an organization called ‘Whitefeather’. The vision of Whitefeather is a program within schools and communities that gives students a motivating environment to be creative while inspiring them to explore themselves and their communities, culture and heritage. I believe that offering these opportunities will inspire those involved to develop and discover their own capabilities, talents, dreams and visions.
